NewTom CBCT ScannersAFP Imaging: The Future of 3D Radiography  The NewTom family of products includes the NewTom Patient 3G and the NewTom VG CBCT scanners.
The NewTom 3G provides a comprehensive, fully integrated imaging solution designed to improve diagnostic and treatment planning capabilities. Because images are acquired with the patient to be lying down, the NewTom 3G enhances patient comfort and safety, and increases the efficiency of the scanning procedure.
The complete NewTom 3G system includes scanner, patient table, scan computer workstation, reconstruction computer workstation, and all software. The system is designed to fit into a room as small as 7.5 by 9 feet, and delivery, installation, and training are included with purchase or lease.
 The NewTom VG is one of the newer additions to the NewTom family of products. Unlike the 3G, the VG is an upright scanning system, with no fixed seating. This means that all patients, even those confined to wheelchairs, can be positioned very easily for scanning. The system’s seating flexibility also means that adults and children can be readily accommodated. In addition, since it looks very much like a panoramic unit, the NewTom VG provides an important level of comfort and familiarity for patients.
The NewTom VG has a footprint of about 3.7’ by 5’, making it a practical option even for practices where office space is at a premium. The complete NewTom VG system includes scanner, cabinet with electronic circuitry (conveniently locatable up to 10 feet from the scanner), computer workstation, and all required software. A complete training program is also included with purchase or lease. The NewTom VG’s image quality, patient safety features, and flexibility make it the best value CBCT system on the market today.
Both the NewTom 3G and the NewTom VG feature Safe Beam™ technology, which enables the scanner to automatically adjust the radiation dosage according to the patient’s age and size. Because it utilizes intermittent bursts of radiation only milliseconds in duration during image acquisition, and not the constant radiation stream typical of some other CBCT imaging products, patients' exposure to radiation is in most cases significantly less than that of competing systems.
